There are certainly elements you can spot, with the imagery of the Clan of Tubal Cain, for example, coming through clearly in tradiitonal use of dancing mills and castles. Howard has a lot to say and does noz briskly and tantalisingly. The third chapter is about casting the circle. However, this is not a book on the history of Old Craft, it is a gramarye — a traditional book of sorcery.

If on walking into a bookshop someone buys libwr book and not a book by Cunningham or Ravenwolf, then Howard has done his job and done it well.
I was at first surprised that in a work on Traditional Craft practice, Howard chose to incorporate the casting of a circle as opposed to compass work. As such, it contains more factual information than your average grimoire, or your bog-standard rituals-and-recipes book for that matter, and is all the more satisfying for it.
A great book for getting started. It represents the horned god but could also represent the axis mundi or the world tree. There are no discussion topics on this book yet.
